Moving from Tiny Tiny RSS to FeedNest

Tiny Tiny RSS's original developer shut down its website, forum, and code hosting in November 2025. One OPML file brings your feeds and categories over, with no server to run.

Tiny Tiny RSS runs on your own server, and a community fork on GitHub now carries the project on. Existing installs keep running, but they still need a server, updates, and a current PHP version, and installs built on the original Docker images must switch to the fork's images to get updates. If you would rather read than maintain, let FeedNest run the server.

What comes across from Tiny Tiny RSS

Feeds
Feeds, refreshed for you with no server to run.
Categories
Folders, created from your OPML file.
Starred and published articles
Not in the OPML file. Save the ones you still need with Add Link.
Labels and filters
Not carried over. tt-rss can write label names and filter rules into its OPML file, but only tt-rss can read them. Tags do the job of labels; rule-based filters are not available yet.
Mobile reading
FeedNest for iOS and Android, plus the web app. The official tt-rss Android app was discontinued in November 2025.

Step by step

  1. Export OPML from Tiny Tiny RSS

    From the Actions menu, open Preferences, go to the Feeds tab, select OPML in the list on the left, and click Export OPML. You get one file with every feed and category. You can leave Include tt-rss settings ticked: FeedNest imports only your feeds and categories.

  2. Create a free account

    Sign up with your email or with Google, Apple, or X. The free plan needs no payment details.

  3. Import the file

    Open Add, choose Import feeds, and drop the file in. FeedNest shows the feeds and folders it found, imports them in the background, and emails you when it is done.

  4. Start reading

    Each feed's latest articles appear as it is imported, and new ones arrive as the feeds refresh. Read on the web or in the iOS and Android apps.

Before you switch

  • The free plan follows up to 150 feeds, Plus 1,500, and Pro 3,000. If your file holds more than your plan allows, the import stops at the limit and lists the feeds it left out.
  • On the free plan, the import brings in YouTube channels and podcasts, but watching videos and playing episodes in FeedNest needs Plus. Google News feeds need Plus to import at all: on the free plan the import skips them.

Questions

Will my categories come across?

Yes. Each category with feeds in it becomes a folder in FeedNest, and subcategories become folders of their own rather than nested ones. Feeds with no category arrive without a folder. If you already have a folder with the same name, the new one gets a number after it.

What about starred articles, labels, and filters?

OPML carries your feeds and categories. tt-rss can also add its own preferences, label names, and filter rules to the file, but only tt-rss can read them, and no articles are included. Save the starred articles you still need with Add Link, and use tags where you used labels.

Do I need to keep a server running?

No. FeedNest is hosted: feeds refresh on their own, and you read in the browser or in the iOS and Android apps.

Can I take my data with me if I leave FeedNest?

Yes. In Settings, under Account, OPML Export downloads every feed and folder you follow as a file that any RSS reader can import.
